Catastrophe Hits as Inadvertent Blast at Police Station in Indian-administered Kashmir Results in Nine Deaths
A catastrophic detonation at a law enforcement facility in Indian-administered Kashmir has caused the loss of nine persons and injuries to thirty-two others, according to authority reports.
The event happened when a cache of confiscated explosives inadvertently exploded during processing activities.

The detonation happened on Friday evening at the Nowgam law enforcement facility, where detonation agents seized from Faridabad in the northern state of Haryana were being held provisionally.
Regional security director announced that the blast materials were pending technical investigation when a "deeply regrettable" mishap during processing resulted in their explosion at approximately 11:20 PM local.
Official Statements
Security forces asserted that this was an "inadvertent blast" and not a terrorist attack. "Different conjectures regarding the origin of this event is unnecessary," stressed the police chief during a media conference.
The security post experienced extensive destruction from the blast, with nearby constructions also being impacted by the strong explosion.
Consequences and Casualties
Multiple vehicles were "consumed by fire and transformed into ashen remains, with debris scattered across the area," according to official reports.
"The intensity of the detonation was such that some human remains were found in nearby houses, approximately between 100 and 200 meters from the police station," stated an official source.
The bulk of the victims were law enforcement personnel, along with scientific examination staff, two investigative imaging experts, and a tailor who was present with the personnel.
Government Action
The territory's Lieutenant Governor expressed commiserations and declared that an inquiry had been ordered into the devastating event.
"I have directed a probe to ascertain the origin of the unintentional blast. Profoundly distressed by the loss of precious lives due to profoundly sorrowful inadvertent detonation at Nowgam law enforcement facility in Srinagar. My commiserations to the mourning loved ones. I hope for rapid recuperation of the injured," expressed the official on social media.
