Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in contact with the league office.

The organization omitted the name of Rice by name in their statement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

The woman, who also did not mention Rice directly, shared a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the team drafted in the second round.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

The receiver missed the initial part of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

Statistically, Rice concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
