Hulu is Developing a Popular Game TV Series from the Minds of Alien: Earth and the Comedy Hit.
The most recent action-packed instalment that players explored was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the antagonist, Antón, and was released back in October 6, 2021. As a series, it is famous for embracing violence and mayhem with the same glee, all while telling captivating, politically driven narratives. Little surprise that the network’s new order for a Far Cry seasonal program brought on board two creators whose projects have represented all of those things.
What to Expect
Based on Ubisoft's popular video game property, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The series will also follow the video games' style by featuring a new location and group of personalities in every instalment.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as executive producers on the series under their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared magnificent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is original, gripping, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our associates at Ubisoft for trusting us with this popular property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also star in the show, but at the time of writing, we have no details on what part that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just approved for more episodes, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new long-term contract with the creator.
“Getting to work alongside Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally generous, trusting us with one of the most renowned video-game universes ever created. And along the way, my FX team always encourages me with their ongoing trust and backing.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology series. Each game is a variation of a concept, the same way every series of Fargo is a variation on a premise,” noted Hawley. “To create a epic action show that can shift from year to year, while always exploring the core of humanity through this multifaceted and unpredictable viewpoint, is a ultimate goal. I’m eager to work with Rob and introduce our common irreverent, visionary style to the screen.”
A release window for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
