President Donald Trump revealed on the weekend that he has invited the family of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the presidential home.

He added that he spoke to her family and they were “devastated”.

Soldier Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a shooting on Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her comrade, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.

White House Invitation

The president explained he’s talked about a meeting at the presidential residence for the parents of both individuals of the state Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, come to the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” Trump told journalists. “And in the same way with him, recover or not.”

Community Support

Community members gathered over the past few days at a local school in the state to remember Beckstrom.

Both the soldiers had been serving with the state guard as part of Trump’s government program to assist policing efforts in Washington DC.

“She was the type of pupil that teachers hoped for. She behaved with inner fortitude, a contagious smile and a upbeat demeanor that lifted those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of her alma mater, stated to the Associated Press. “She was kind, compassionate and always willing to help others.”

Memorial plans for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Officials have accused a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of first-degree murder and charges of attempted murder while armed.

The incident prompted the administration to halt refugee claims and temporarily stop granting entry permits to owners of Afghan passports.

Condition of Wolfe

The airman, a native of the city, started his military career in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, per the news agency.

He is still undergoing care and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s governor the governor mentioned on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi informed Fox News Sunday that she aimed to meet with his relatives.

Sarah, from her hometown, completed her education from her high school in mid-2023 and began her service not long after, working as a law enforcement officer with distinction, per the military.

“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had bravery,” he addressed the crowd at the memorial. “Though her time was cut short, she has left a mark that’s going to be remembered always.”
