The Red Devils Set to Secure German Striker Lea Schüller from the Bavarian Giants
Manchester United are finalising sealing the deal for prolific German striker Lea Schüller in a permanent move from the Frauen-Bundesliga champions.
A Major Acquisition for the WSL Side
Schüller, who has six months remaining on her deal, has been a prolific goalscorer for her club and the national team. She has netted over 100 goals for the German giants and scored 54 times in 82 caps for her country. Her arrival is viewed as a marquee coup for the WSL side.
Her exit from Munich was expected since she appeared to be fighting back tears while thanking the club's fans following a victory over Bayer Leverkusen recently.
It was reported in December that the German women's top flight was losing one of its leading forwards. Per multiple sources, all the paperwork for the move are now finalised.
Consistent Goalscoring to Boost United's Attack
The experienced striker's arrival should represent a major uplift to United’s attacking options. She has been highly consistent with her finishing in Germany’s top flight.
- For seven straight seasons, up to and including the most recent campaign, she reached at least a double-digit tally of league goals.
- She won the Golden Boot in the 2021-22 season with a haul of 16 goals.

Securing Schüller’s signature coincides with a period when United seem to be gathering positive momentum.
Their recent performances feature securing a place in the Champions League knockout phase playoffs in a seeded position and a victory in the League Cup quarter-finals.
Off the pitch, the mid-season window has brought additional activity:
- The acquisition of Sweden defender Hanna Lundkvist on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
- The new deal for Japanese playmaker Hinata Miyazawa, a fan favourite since arriving in 2023.
On Miyazawa’s extension, a club official stated: “She has become a vital part to the way we play. Her understanding of the game and technical ability allows her and the team to control and dictate play from central areas.”
The new defender, having joined from a club in the NWSL, added: “You can sense how much the club have progressed in the last few years, competing in one of the most competitive leagues in the world and performing in the Champions League.”
