The Reze Arc Movie Dominates the U.S. Box Office in Debut Weekend

Can Sony claim to have done it again? In the wake of the box office performance of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, which grossed more than $600 million at the box office, the latest Chainsaw Man film has reached beyond the hundred-million-dollar mark internationally, attaining a worldwide gross of over $108 million during its debut. This feature beat out Black Phone 2 ($12.9 million) in its second week in theaters, as well as the film Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere starring actor Jeremy Allen White (nine million dollars).

Strong U.S. and International Results

Directed by filmmaker Tatsuya Yoshihara, the movie is a direct continuation of the debut season of the Chainsaw Man series. It grossed $18.2M in North America after a powerful $5.2M Saturday earnings and $4.5 million Sunday performance. Internationally, the MAPPA-produced feature earned $14.7 million across 46 international territories, pushing its worldwide total to over $60 million via Sony ($43.1 million overseas, $18.2M domestic). Sony has yet to announce its final earnings figure.

Comparisons to Other Anime Hits

Specialist agency an industry expert noted in prior discussions, comparing the film’s projected performance to Jujutsu Kaisen 0, which made $34M in the North America in 2022 and opened to a comparable $18M in the U.S.. Reze Arc’s debut weekend aligns with that standard, while its $108M worldwide total is now positioned a bit short of the earlier film's over $166 million final run.
